چکیده

We present a detailed determination of the astrophysical parameters of the chromospherically active binary star EI Eridani. Our new radial velocities allow to improve the set of orbital elements and reveal long-term variations of the barycentric velocity. A possible third-body orbit with a period of ≈ 19 years is presented. Absolute parameters are determined in combination with the Hipparcos parallax. EI Eri’s inclination angle of the rotational axis is confined to 56. 0 ± 4. 5, its luminosity class IV is confirmed by its radius of 2.37 ± 0.12R⊙. A comparison to theoretical stellar evolutionary tracks suggests a mass of 1.09 ± 0.05M⊙ and an age of ≈ 6.15 Gyr. The present investigation is the basis of our long-term Doppler imaging study of its stellar surface.

On the Binary Nature of 1rxs J162848.1-415241 on the Binary Nature of J1628

We present spectroscopy of the optical counterpart to 1RXS J162848.1-41524, also known as the microquasar candidate MCQC J162847-4152. All the data indicate that this X-ray source is not a microquasar, and that it is a single-lined chromospherically active binary system with a likely orbital period of 4.9 days. Our analysis supports a K3IV spectral classification for the star, which is dominant...

A probable RS CVn star which sometimes stops its eclipses ⋆

We report the discovery of a new variable star, called S 10947 Aql, as the likely optical counterpart of RX J2009.8+1557. The optical variability pattern as well as the detected X-ray emission suggest that it is a chromospherically active binary of the RS Canum Venaticorum (≡ RS CVn) type. We discovered an occasional disappearance of the eclipsing minima as well as large variations in the eclip...

Cross - correlation radial velocity measurements ofchromospherically

We present observational radial velocity curves for 12 chromospherically active binary systems and individual measurements for a further 5 systems. These binaries are Six of our target binaries do not agree with published ephemerides or orbital parameters. We also present a rigourous derivation of the resolution limit for binary star cross-correlation radial velocities. Using synthetic spectral...

36 Ophiuchi Ab: Incompatibility of the Orbit and Precise Radial Velocities

The long-period (600 yr) binary system 36 Ophiuchi AB consists of two chromospherically active K dwarfs. If we constrain the period using the mass-luminosity relation and the observed parallax, the remaining orbit parameters can be estimated from the 170 years of visual-binary observations. In this paper, we further constrain the orbit by precise measurements of the diierential radial velocitie...
